The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Tuesday night.

The Washington Nationals will be looking to rebound from an 8-7 loss to Miami in extra innings on Monday night. Keibert Ruiz led the charge, going 3 for 5 with four RBIs while Lane Thomas had a solo home run with a double as well and Luis Garcia had two hits with a double and an RBI. Josh Bell had a double and Alcides Escobar had three hits while Juan Soto added a base knock of his own to cap off Washington’s offense as a team in the defeat. Erick Fedde gave up two runs on four hits while striking out five over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Sam Clay took the loss in relief, falling to 0-5 on the year as a result. Josh Rogers will start here and is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season.

The Miami Marlins will look to build off of their high-scoring win over the Nats from Monday. Jazz Chisholm Jr. led the way with a pair of hits including a pair of solo home runs and three RBIs while Jesus Sanchez had a two-run home run. Lewis Brinson and Miguel Rojas each had an RBI while Eddy Alvarez added a double. Nick Fortes and Lewin Diaz each had base hits as well to finish off Miami’s offense as a team in the win. Jesus Luzardo gave up five runs on six hits over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Dylan Floro got the win in relief to improve to 6-6 on the year. Trevor Rogers will start here and is 7-7 with a 2.71 ERA and 141 strikeouts this season.

Washington is 7-27 in their last 34 division games and 16-39 in their last 55 games overall while the under is 10-4-1 in their last 15 road games against a team with a losing record. Miami is 22-50 in their last 72 Tuesday games and 4-1 in their last 5 home games against a left-handed starter while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record.

This is a bit of an interesting matchup as josh Rogers has looked pretty good in limited action while Trevor Rogers has been one of the brighter spots in Miami’s not so bright season. With that said, Monday’s game was all about offense, but with a solid starting pitching matchup and an emphasis on defense, I think runs will be scarce on Tuesday and the under comes in with ease.
