The Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles meet in MLB action from Camden Yards on Friday night.
The Texas Rangers will look to rebound from a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Orioles in Thursday’s series opener. Isiah Kiner-Falefa leads the Rangers with a .272 batting average with a team-high 164 hits and 25 doubles while Adolis Garcia has a team-high 30 home runs and 83 RBIs this season. Nate Lowe’s got a team-high .354 OBP while also sharing the team-high with Kiner-Falefa with 3 triples apiece. Spencer Howard will start this one and is 0-4 with a 6.86 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to pick up rare back-to-back wins after Thursday’s triumph. Cedric Mullins leads Baltimore with a .300 batting average, a .368 OBP and 172 hits with a team-high 36 doubles while Ryan Mountcastle has a team-high 31 home runs and 84 RBIs but also has the dubious distinction of leading the Orioles with 149 strikeouts this season. Mullins also has 29 home runs while Trey Mancini and Austin Hays each have 20+ homers this year. Alexander Wells will start here and is 1-3 with a 7.96 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season.
Texas is 20-41 in their last 61 Friday games and 4-1 in their last 5 game two matchups while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter. Baltimore is 31-64 in their last 95 games against the AL West and 24-54 in their last 78 home games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall.
This is a tough game to call from the perspective of a side especially when you have two struggling starters on the mound in Howard and Wells here. However, I’m going to side with the under as both offenses are flat out awful and it gives both starters a chance to get a feel-good start under their respective belts. There’s much better games on Friday’s board, but if forced to pick, give me the under.
