The Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles meet Saturday in MLB action from Oriole Park. This will be the third installment in a four-game weekend series. The Orioles took a shutout win in the Thursday opener, then on Friday Texas evened it up with a three-run victory of their own. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas couldn’t get anything going on the scoreboard Thursday, posting five hits in a 3-0 shutout loss. In the Friday game, the Rangers had 13 team hits in an 8-5 comeback win. Spencer Howard put up 4.0 innings with four earned on six hits.

For the Saturday starter gig, the Rangers will send out Jordan Lyles. Over 166.1 innings this year Lyles has 185 hits, 100 runs (99 earned), 37 homers allowed, 54 walks, 134 Ks and a 5.36 ERA.

Over on the Orioles’ side, they put up seven team hits in the Thursday win. On Friday, Baltimore coughed up five runs in the ninth inning to give the game away. Alexander Wells put up 5.0 innings with five hits, three earned and a walk.

Starter for the Saturday game will be Baltimore’s John Means. This year across 138.2 innings Means has 111 hits, 54 runs (50 earned), 26 homers allowed, 26 walks, 124 Ks and a 3.25 ERA.

The Rangers are 8-21 in their last 29 in game three of a series and 7-21 in their last 28 versus a lefty starter. The over is 9-1-1 in Texas’ last 11 in game three of a series as well.

Meanwhile, the O’s are 31-71 in their last 102 Saturday games and 4-11 in their last 15 in game three of a series. Baltimore is 13-38 in their last 51 overall as well.

PICK: I’m going to go Baltimore. Means has been on a nice run of starts lately, putting up two or fewer in each of his last five outings. He’s coming off a clean 6.2 innings with four hits and one walk versus Philly. As for Lyles, he gave up five earned in 3.2 innings versus the White Sox his last time up. I like Lyles to bounce back here, with a close Orioles victory at game’s end.
