The Washington Nationals and the Cincinnati Reds meet Sunday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. This will be the final installment in a four-game weekend series. After a split in the first pair of matchups, on Saturday in game three the Reds won in walk-off fashion. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Washington posted a 3-2 victory in the Thursday opener, but couldn’t keep up with Cincinnati on Friday in an 8-7 extra-innings loss. On Saturday, the Nats had a 5-3 lead going into the fifth but ultimately couldn’t hang on in a 7-6 defeat. Starter Erick Fedde put up 4.2 innings with five earned on seven hits and three walks.

For the starter gig in the Sunday finale, the Nationals will send out Josh Rogers. Over his 25.0 innings of work this year Rogers has 18 hits, six earned runs, three homers allowed, seven walks, 16 Ks and a 2.16 ERA.

Over on the Reds’ side, they posted seven runs in a five-inning span on Friday to help power out the win. In the Saturday game, Cincinnati posted 11 hits in the victory. Vladimir Gutierrez finished on 2.2 innings, four earned, four walks and five hits.

Starting pitcher for the Reds on Sunday will be Tyler Mahle. Over 169.2 innings this year Mahle has 147 hits, 71 runs (69 earned), 24 homers allowed, 60 walks, 198 Ks and a 3.66 ERA.

The Nationals are 16-35 in their last 51 overall and 11-26 in their last 37 road games. Washington is 2-5 in their last seven Sunday games as well.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 4-0 in their last four in game four of a series and 0-4 in their last four Sunday games. The under is also 5-1 in the Reds’ last six in game four of a series.

PICK: I’m going Nationals. Mahle had a couple of solid games in the middle of this month, but he’s coming off something of a sketchy outing with three earned on six hits and three walks over 4.1 innings versus the Pirates. As for Rogers, he’s given up just three earned runs in 19.1 innings over his last three outings. I like another good start from Rogers in a Nationals win here.
