The Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers meet Monday in MLB action from Comerica Park. The Sox are coming off a five-game weekend set versus the Indians. Chicago split the first four, then in the Sunday finale the White Sox posted a three-run victory. As for Detroit, they played the Royals over the weekend. The Tigers also split their first pair, then in the Sunday rubber match Detroit fell in a tough one-run result. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago beat the Indians Thursday 7-2 and Friday 1-0, but lost the other pair in the first quartet 5-3 and 6-0. On Sunday, the White Sox had 13 hits in a 5-2 win. Starting pitcher Lucas Giolito lasted 6.0 innings with five hits and one walk.

For the starter gig in the Monday game, the White Sox will send out Dallas Keuchel. Over 156.1 innings this year Keuchel has 178 hits, 100 runs (90 earned), 24 homers allowed, 56 walks, 92 Ks and a 5.18 ERA.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they fell to the Royals 3-1 on Friday but then took a 5-1 Saturday win. In the Sunday rubber match Detroit lost 2-1. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta put up 4.2 innings with two earned, eight hits and three walks.

Starting pitcher for Monday’s game will be the Tigers’ Matt Manning. In 77.0 innings this year Manning has 90 hits, 53 runs (49 earned), nine homers allowed, 27 walks, 47 Ks and a 5.73 ERA.

The White Sox are 14-3 in their last 17 in game one of a series and 3-7 in their last 10 Monday games. The under is 4-1 in Chicago’s last five Monday games as well.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 17-37 in their last 54 Monday games and 50-108 in their last 158 versus the AL Central. Detroit is also 88-181 in their last 269 versus a team with a winning record.

PICK: I’m going to try Detroit here. Manning is coming off a start versus Chicago, putting up three earned on 5.0 innings from four hits and three walks. Manning has given up five earned over his last 14.0 innings total. As for Keuchel, he’s given up four earned on 17 hits in his last 11.0 innings, and had a run of 15 earned in 9.2 innings prior to that. I like Keuchel to pitch better here but I think the Tigers have a reasonable shot at a W.
