The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves meet Tuesday in MLB action from SunTrust Park. Philadelphia is coming off a weekend series versus the Pirates. The Phillies won three of four games in that set. As for the Braves, they played the Padres in their last series. Atlanta won all three of those weekend games. Philadelphia took wins versus the Pirates 12-6 Thursday, 8-6 Friday and 3-0 Saturday before a 6-0 loss in the Sunday finale. In that game, Phillies pitcher Hans Crouse managed 3.0 innings with one earned, two hits and four walks.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Phillies are sending out Zack Wheeler. Over his 206.1 innings this year Wheeler has 165 hits, 70 runs (64 earned), 16 homers allowed, 45 walks, 240 Ks and a 2.79 ERA.

Over on the Braves’ side, they beat the Padres 4-0 Friday, 10-8 Saturday and 4-3 in the Sunday matchup. In the finale win, Atlanta pitcher Jacob Webb gave up the damage with three earned on four hits and a walk in 1.2 innings of work.

Starting pitcher for the Tuesday game will be Atlanta’s Charlie Morton. In 176.0 innings this year Morton has 132 hits, 77 runs (69 earned), 16 homers allowed, 56 walks, 203 Ks and a 3.53 ERA.

The Phillies are 5-1 in their last six overall and 2-5 in their last seven Tuesday games. Philly is 19-7 in their last 26 versus the NL East as well.

Meanwhile, the Braves are 7-0 in their last seven versus a right-handed starter and 7-1 in their last eight overall. Atlanta is also 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going with Philly. Morton has been decent lately, posting eight earned runs on 15 hits and five walks across 18.0 innings during his last three starts. As for Wheeler, he’s been cruising along on three earned runs in 23.2 innings over his last five starts. I like Wheeler to keep it going here and put Philadelphia in a good spot for a win.
