The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Wednesday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Tuesday opener, the Yankees powered out a five-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York had a great series versus the Red Sox over the weekend, winning all three games 8-3, 5-3 and 6-3. In the Tuesday opener versus Toronto, the Yankees scored three runs in the seventh during a 7-2 victory. Starter Jameson Taillon exited with an injury issue after just 2.1 innings.

For the starter gig in the Wednesday game two, the Yankees will send out Gerrit Cole. Over 175.1 innings this year Cole has 142 hits, 64 runs (60 earned), 22 homers, 41 walks, 237 Ks and a 3.08 ERA.

Over on the Jays’ side, they managed to win two of four from the Twins over the weekend. On Tuesday, Toronto had just three hits in the loss. Hyun-jin Ryu put up three earned on six hits and a walk in 4.1 frames.

Starting pitcher for the Wednesday game will be the Jays’ Jose Berrios. This year Berrios is 12-9 with a 3.48 ERA and 197 Ks in 186.0 innings over 31 starts.

New York is 40-17 in their last 57 in game two of a series and 36-16 in their last 52 Wednesday games. The under is 5-1 in the Yankees’ last six Wednesday games as well.

Meanwhile, the Jays are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 21-8 in their last 29 overall. Toronto is also 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series.

PICK: I’m probably sticking with the Yankees but staying away. Berrios is 1-1 over his last two starts, putting up six earned on three walks and nine hits across 12.2 combined innings. He’s also got 16 earned over his last 43.0 innings in seven starts. As for Cole, he gave up three earned in 6.0 innings at Fenway his last time up, which was a decent bounce-back from his ugly start versus the Indians. I like both guys to pitch well in a tight Yankees win, but this one could really go either way.
