The Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Thursday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. The Cardinals won game one in this set Tuesday, then in the Wednesday game Milwaukee bounced back with a shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Milwaukee posted nine team hits in the Tuesday series opener, and even had a brief lead in an eventual 6-2 defeat. In the Wednesday game the Brewers were able to halt St. Louis’ epic streak with a 4-0 victory. Adrian Houser posted 5.0 innings with three hits and two walks in the start.

For the starter gig in the Thursday matchup Milwaukee will send out Brett Anderson. Over his 90.0 innings this year Anderson has 98 hits, 50 runs (43 earned), 10 homers allowed, 27 walks, 56 Ks and a 4.30 ERA.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they scored four runs across the fourth and fifth innings Tuesday and never looked back. On Wednesday St. Louis managed just three hits in the loss. Miles Mikolas put up 5.2 innings with three earned on seven hits and a walk.

Starting pitcher for the Thursday finale will be the Cardinals’ JA Happ. In his 47.2 innings this year Happ has 43 hits, 21 earned runs, eight homers allowed, 17 walks, 38 Ks and a 3.97 ERA.

The Brewers are 22-8 in their last 30 in game three of a series and 38-16 in their last 54 road games. Milwaukee is 0-4 in their last four Thursday games as well.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five Thursday games and 19-7 in their last 26 in game three of a series. St. Louis is also 35-16 in their last 51 overall.

PICK: Might as well stick with the Cardinals. Happ had a rough patch earlier this month but he’s been better in his last three outings with three earned on eight hits and six walks in 13.1 innings of work. As for Anderson, he’s given up two earned on nine hits and two walks in his last two starts, but has been out there for just 3.2 innings. Anderson will likely be okay for a few frames at least but this is probably St. Louis’ cover to take.
