The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Thursday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. The Yankees struck first with a win Tuesday, then in the Wednesday game two the Jays evened it up with a tight victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York posted three runs in the seventh inning on Tuesday in game one, cruising to a 7-2 win. In the Wednesday matchup, the Yankees had the game tied in the eighth but gave up a solo homer in an eventual 6-5 result. Gerrit Cole put up 6.0 innings, five earned, nine hits and six Ks in the start.

For the starting pitcher job Thursday, the Yankees will send out Corey Kluber. Over his 75.1 innings this year Kluber has 67 hits, 35 runs (32 earned), eight homers allowed, 32 walks, 80 Ks and a 3.82 ERA.

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they couldn’t get much going offensively in the loss Tuesday with just three team hits. In the Wednesday game, Toronto coughed up an early 3-0 lead but still powered out the win. Jose Berrios lasted 6.0 innings with three earned on four hits.

Starting pitcher for the Thursday matchup will be the Jays’ Robbie Ray. In his 188.0 innings this season Ray has 146 hits, 57 runs (56 earned), 29 homers, 49 walks, 244 Ks and a 2.68 ERA.

The Yankees are 5-0 in their last five versus a lefty starter and 37-18 in their last 55 with a total of 7.0-8.5. New York is 2-5 in their last seven in game three of a series as well.

Meanwhile, the Jays are 13-3 in their last 16 in game three of a series and 16-7 in their last 23 versus the AL East. The under is also 16-5-1 in Toronto’s last 22 in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to try the Jays. Ray has two good outings and one sketchy appearance in his last three. During the good ones Ray posted just two earned on seven hits and four walks in a combined 13.0 innings; the not-so-good outing came against the Rays with three earned on seven hits and two walks in 4.2 frames. As for Kluber, he’s given up seven earned in 14.1 innings over his last three games. This should be a pretty interesting starter matchup and it should be a relatively lower-scoring game if both guys are on.
