The New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves meet Friday in MLB action from SunTrust Park. New York is coming off a series this week versus Miami. The Mets won two of the first three games there, then on Thursday New York won in a blowout. As for the Braves, they played the Phillies in their last set. Atlanta took the first two games of the series, then on Thursday the Braves managed a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York beat the Marlins 5-2 and 2-1 on Tuesday before a 3-2 defeat in the Wednesday game. On Thursday the Mets scored six runs in the eighth inning to cap off a 12-3 blowout win. Starter Rich Hill lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on six hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the Friday opener New York will send out Tylor Megill. This season Megill has a 3-6 record with a 4.78 ERA and 93 strikeouts overall.

Over on the Braves’ side, they beat the Phillies 2-1 Tuesday and 7-2 in the Wednesday matchup. On Thursday Atlanta was up 5-0 heading into the seventh inning but still had to hang on in a 5-3 win. Starting pitcher Ian Anderson put up 6.0 innings with two earned on three walks and three hits.

For the starting pitcher gig on Friday the Braves are going with Huascar Ynoa. So far Ynoa has a 4-5 record for Atlanta with a 3.98 ERA and 94 strikeouts to his credit.

The Mets are 7-20 in their last 27 road games and 2-7 in their last nine Friday games. New York is 1-4 in their last five in game one of a series as well.

Meanwhile, the Braves are 16-5 in their last 21 in game one of a series and 6-2 in their last eight Friday games. Atlanta is also 1-6 in their last seven games versus a lefty starter.

PICK: I’m sticking with Atlanta. Megill has been pretty rough over his last two starts, with an 0-2 record, 10 earned, six walks and 14 hits in a combined 7.0 innings. As for Ynoa, he’s going to need a big bounce-back start here. Ynoa put up seven earned on seven hits and three homers in 4.2 innings during his last start versus the Padres. I like him to get it together here and help the Braves to a win, though.
