The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox meet Saturday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This will be the second installment in a four-game weekend series. The Yankees took Thursday’s opener, then on Friday New York kept it going with a six-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York scored a whopping seven runs in a wild eighth inning Thursday, cruising to an eventual 15-7 victory. In the Friday game, the Yankees did it again, securing a 10-4 win on 14 team hits. Gerrit Cole lasted 6.1 innings with three earned on six hits and a walk in the start.

For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Yankees are sending out Jordan Montgomery. Across six starts this year Montgomery is 0-1 with a 2.90 ERA. In his 31.0 innings total he’s put up 24 hits, 10 earned, five walks and 25 Ks.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they put up eight team hits (and had a brief lead) Thursday but couldn’t keep up. In the Friday matchup Chicago had another decent offensive night with nine hits. Vince Velasquez had a rough start with 5.0 innings, seven earned, eight hits and three walks.

Dallas Keuchel will make the start for the Sox on Saturday. Over five starts he’s got a 2-3 record with a 6.86 ERA. Keuchel has 21.0 innings total with 32 hits, 16 earned runs, 12 walks and 13 strikeouts.

The Yankees are 21-7 in their last 28 on grass and 36-15 in their last 51 overall. New York is 76-35 in their last 111 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 1-6 in their last seven in game three of a series and 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. Chicago is 44-20 in the last 64 versus a lefty starter.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the White Sox. Keuchel had a sketchy outing versus the Angels back on May 1, posting four earned on six hits and five walks in 5.0 innings during a loss. The good news is that Keuchel has just six earned in his last 15.0 innings. He’s got to get his walks down (11 in that time) but overall he’s been solid. Montgomery is probably going to do well here also—he’s got six earned over his last 16.2 innings but hasn’t gotten enough offense to get a decision. If the New York offense falters again Chicago could get in there for a W. It’s a value play, but even with the two losses so far a Sox victory is certainly a possibility here.
