The Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers meet Saturday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, the Tigers posted a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Baltimore played the Cardinals this week, posting a series victory with wins on Tuesday and Thursday. In the Friday game versus Detroit, the O’s managed a couple of runs in the eighth but ultimately fell 4-2. Jordan Lyles lasted 5.2 innings with four earned on six hits and three walks.

For the starting pitcher job in the Saturday game, the Orioles are going with Bruce Zimmerman. In six starts this year Zimmerman is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA. Across 30.1 innings total he’s put up 28 hits, nine earned, eight walks and 30 Ks.

Over on the Detroit side, they played a long five-game series versus the A’s this week. The Tigers won just one of those. On Friday, Detroit had three runs in the sixth (and six hits overall) in the victory. Starter Eduardo Rodriguez put up 6.2 clean innings with five hits and four walks.

Michael Pineda will take the mound for the Tigers on Saturday. In his four starts this year so far Pineda is 1-2 with a 3.43 ERA. Over 21.0 total innings he’s put up 20 hits, eight earned runs, four walks and 12 Ks.

The O’s are 28-58 in their last 86 versus the AL Central and 34-74 in their last 108 Saturday gams. Baltimore is 19-55 in their last 74 in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games and 7-21 in their last 28 overall. Detroit is 3-10 in their last 13 versus a lefty starter.

PICK: I’m going to try Baltimore here. Zimmerman hasn’t done too badly over his last two starts, notching 11.0 combined innings with four earned on nine hits and two walks. He should be able to put up a decent start in this one. As for Pineda, he’s given up four earned on 10 hits and four walks in 11.0 innings in his last pair. We should have a pretty solid pitching battle in game two; I like Baltimore to ultimately come up with the win, though.
