The Minnesota Twins and the Seattle Mariners meet Monday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. The Twins played the Rays over the weekend, winning the first two games. In the Sunday finale, Minnesota lost in a shutout. As for Seattle, they’re coming off a weekend series versus Boston. The Mariners split the first pair in that set, then in the Sunday rubber match Seattle fell in a shutout as well. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Minnesota posted a nice 9-4 win over the Rays on Friday, then eked out a 6-5 win in game two. In the Sunday finale, the Twins posted five hits in a rough 6-0 shutout defeat. Starter Cole Sands finished on 4.2 innings with five earned, five hits and a walk.

For the starter gig in the Monday opener, Minnesota will go with Chris Archer. Over 11 starts this year Archer is 1-2 with a 3.65 ERA. In 44.1 innings he has 38 hits, 18 earned, 21 walks and 34 Ks.

Over on the Mariners’ side, they lost 4-3 to the Red Sox in the Friday game. Saturday was better with a 7-6 victory, though. On Sunday, Seattle had just one hit in a 2-0 loss. Starting pitcher Robbie Ray lasted 7.0 clean innings with three hits and a walk.

Starting pitcher for the Mariners on Monday will be Chris Flexen. In 11 starts this year Flexen is 2-7 with a 4.35 ERA. In 62.0 innings he has 65 hits, 30 earned, 21 walks and 42 Ks.

The Twins are 5-1 in their last six Monday games and the over is 4-0 in their last four in game one of a series. The under is 16-4-3 in the Twins’ last 23 versus the AL West.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are 5-1 in the last six in game one of a series and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 versus a team with a winning record. The under is 10-4-1 in Seattle’s last 15 versus the AL Central.

PICK: I like Minnesota in this one. Archer has a couple of good starts under his belt. In the last pair, he’s put up 10.0 combined innings with two earned on five hits and five walks. He’s 1-0 in those two, and despite not putting up a ton of strikeouts (five) he’s getting the job done. If the Twins can provide a few runs of support—and if the bullpen comes through—I think they’ll be fine.
