The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers meet Tuesday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Monday opener of this set, Texas put up a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Houston played the Marlins over the weekend and had some issues. The Astros won just one of three games in that series. On Monday versus Texas, Houston gave up three runs in the eighth during a tough 5-3 loss. Starter Cristian Javier finished with 6.0 innings, one earned, five hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Astros are going with Jose Urquidy. This year in 11 starts Urquidy is 5-3 with a 5.04 ERA. Over 55.1 innings Urquidy has 31 earned on 76 hits and 12 walks.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they lost to the White Sox Friday but were able to bounce back and take the weekend series with wins in the other pair. On Monday Texas notched 11 team hits during the victory. Taylor Hearn posted 5.1 innings in the start with three earned on seven hits and three BBs.

For the Rangers’ starter role Tuesday it’ll be Dane Dunning. In his 12 starts so far Dunning is 1-4 with a 4.41 ERA. Over 65.1 innings he’s got 32 earned, 67 hits, 20 walks and 64 Ks.

Houston is 23-7 in their last 30 Tuesday games and 27-11 in their last 36 as a favorite. The Astros are 26-12 in their last 38 overall.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 8-0 in the last eight in game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games. The over is 5-2 in Texas’ last seven as a home underdog.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Houston. This one’s going to depend somewhat on what Dunning does, though; he’s been a mixed bag lately. Dunning put up just two earned on three hits in 7.0 innings versus the Mariners on June 3, but then came back with four earned on nine hits in 4.0 innings during a loss to the Guardians in his last outing. I like Dunning to do reasonably well in this one, but it’s probably still the Astros’ game to lose.
