The Miami Marlins will look to rebound from a 3-2 loss in Monday’s series opener against the Phillies last time out. Jesus Sanchez has 40 hits along with 3 triples, 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and a .220 batting average. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has 7 doubles and 4 triples as well as 12 home runs and 40 RBIs as well this season. Jorge Soler has 11 doubles with 12 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 59 hits, a .314 batting average and 15 doubles while Brian Anderson has 9 doubles of his own and Joey Wendle has 6 doubles and a .284 batting average. Jesus Aguilar also has 52 hits of his own this season. Trevor Rogers will start here and is 3-5 with a 5.58 ERA and 44 strikeouts this season.
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on another victory after their win over the Marlins from Monday. Bryce Harper leads the Phillies with 68 hits including 20 doubles, 15 home runs and 46 RBIs while Nick Castellanos has 58 hits with 14 doubles and 31 RBIs. Kyle Schwarber also has 16 home runs and 34 RBIs as well while Alec Bohm’s posting a .246 batting average so far this season. Zach Eflin will start this one and is 2-4 with a 3.76 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season.
Miami is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 22-47 in their last 69 games as an underdog while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a road underdog. Philadelphia is 10-1 in their last 11 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 home games while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games as a home favorite.
I get the reasoning for backing the Marlins at plus money as Zach Eflin isn’t normally the pitcher I’d be looking to lay juice with. However, the Marlins found a way to lose the game on Tuesday and Trevor Rogers, while I’m a fan of his, hasn’t been great this season and I think this is just one of those spots where the Phillies go out and get a win behind Eflin.
