The Colorado Rockies and the Miami Marlins meet in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Wednesday.
The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back after a heartbreaking 9-8 loss to the Marlins in Tuesday’s matchup. Connor Joe has 67 hits and a .268 batting average with 10 doubles, 5 home runs and 3 triples. C.J. Cron has 81 hits with 15 doubles, 2 triples, a team-high 17 home runs and 52 RBIs while Ryan McMahon has 13 doubles and Charlie Blackmon has 67 hits with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs of his own up to this point in the season for the Rockies. Randal Grichuk also has 7 home runs and 34 RBIs as well this season. Jose Iglesias also has 15 doubles of his own and a .303 batting average on the year. Chad Kuhl is expected to start here and is 4-4 with a 3.69 ERA and 49 strikeouts this season.
The Miami Marlins will try to build off of their win over the Rockies from Tuesday. Jesus Sanchez has 44 hits along with 3 triples, 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and a .228 batting average. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has 8 doubles and 4 triples as well as 13 home runs and 42 RBIs as well this season. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 12 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 65 hits, a .310 batting average and 16 doubles while Brian Anderson has 9 doubles of his own and Joey Wendle has 6 doubles and a .284 batting average. Jesus Aguilar also has 57 hits of his own this season. Pablo Lopez will start here and is 4-3 with a 2.85 ERA and 77 strikeouts this season.
Colorado is 1-6 in their last 7 game two matchups and 0-4 in their last 4 games against the NL East while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Miami is 6-0 in their last 6 games as a home favorite and 6-0 in Lopez’s last 6 game two starts while the over is 5-0 in Lopez’s last 5 home starts against a team with a losing record.
I get the case to be made for the Marlins here, but as much as I’m a Pablo Lopez kind of guy, this is just a far too hefty price for me to back. And the Marlins’ offensive issues make this Miami team a hard one to back on the run line. Colorado hasn’t provided a ton of value, but Kuhl hasn’t been terrible and I think Wednesday’s matchup could be a close one as well. Give me the Rockies +1.5 here.
