The Philadelphia Phillies and the Texas Rangers meet in MLB action from Globe Life Field on Wednesday.
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to rebound after a 7-0 loss at the hands of the Rangers in Tuesday’s matchup. Heading into Tuesday’s game, Bryce Harper leads the Phillies with 75 hits including 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 48 RBIs while Nick Castellanos has 65 hits with 17 doubles and 36 RBIs. Kyle Schwarber also has 18 home runs and 37 RBIs as well while Alec Bohm’s posting a .252 batting average so far this season. Zack Wheeler will start this one and is 6-3 with a 2.69 ERA and 78 strikeouts this season.
The Texas Rangers will try to build on their victory over the Phillies from Tuesday’s game. Entering Tuesday’s matchup, Nate Lowe has 63 hits and a .274 batting average with 9 doubles while Adolis Garcia has 13 home runs and a team-high 45 RBIs. Corey Seager also has 58 hits, 15 homers and 31 RBIs and Brad Miller has 25 RBIs while Marcus Semien has 10 doubles and the aforementioned Garcia has 11 doubles as well on the year. Jon Gray will get the start for the Rangers in this one and is 2-3 with a 4.27 ERA and 63 strikeouts this season.
Philadelphia is 7-2 in their last 9 road games and 15-4 in their last 19 games overall while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 interleague games as a favorite. Texas is 2-6 in their last 8 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 games as a home underdog while the under is 17-8-5 in their last 30 Wednesday games.
I get the case to be made either way in this one, but I’m looking towards the under here. Wheeler’s been outstanding in his last few starts and while Jon Gray’s been inconsistent, he pitches fairly well more often than not and I think this one just ends up coming in under the number.
