The Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays meet Tuesday in MLB action from Tropicana Field. The Brewers are coming off a weekend series versus the Blue Jays. Milwaukee won two of three in that set. As for Tampa Bay, they played the Pirates in their last series. The Rays took a three-game sweep over the weekend. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Milwaukee took a 9-4 loss to the Blue Jays back on Friday as their series opened, but were able to even it up with a 5-4 win in the Saturday matchup. Sunday went even better for the Brewers in the rubber match, with a 10-3 victory to take the series.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday matchup, the Brewers will send out Brandon Woodruff. Over his nine starts this year Woodruff is 5-3 with a 4.74 ERA. In 43.2 innings total he has 41 hits, 23 earned, 13 walks and 53 strikeouts.

Over on the Rays’ side, they played three tight games versus the Pirates this past weekend. Tampa won 4-3 in the Friday matchup, then eked out another one-run victory 6-5 on Saturday. Tampa bagged 10 team hits on the way to a 4-2 victory in the finale as well.

Shane Baz will take the mound for the Rays on Tuesday. Baz is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 15 Ks this year.

The Brewers are 4-1 in their last five interleague games and 7-3 in their last 10 overall. Milwaukee is 4-1 in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 8-0 in their last eight versus the NL Central and 38-15 in their last 53 interleague games. Tampa is 4-1 in the last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Brewers in this one, even though Tampa Bay is coming off a solid series of games. Woodruff hasn’t started in the MLB since May 27 (ankle injury), but he was looking good last month despite taking a loss in his most recent outing. Over his last three starts, he has just four earned in 15.0 innings on 12 hits and three walks. Milwaukee is going to need some help from the offense and the bullpen, but I think they’ve got a reasonable shot at a win here.
