The Houston Astros and the New York Mets meet in MLB action from Citi Field in MLB action on Tuesday night.
The Houston Astros will try to rebound from a 6-3 loss to the New York Yankees on Sunday that forced the Astros to settle for a series split last time out. Michael Brantley has 70 hits with a .288 batting average while Yuli Gurriel has a team-high 21 doubles and Alex Bregman has 57 hits with 15 doubles, 9 home runs and 35 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez has a team-high 22 home runs and 54 RBIs and Kyle Tucker has 14 home runs and 48 RBIs as well this season. Jeremy Pena also has a .277 batting average with 9 home runs and 27 RBIs of his own this season. Luis Garcia will start here and is 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA and 74 strikeouts this season.
The New York Mets will try to rebound after failing to complete the sweep after a 3-2 loss to Miami last time out. Francisco Lindor has 70 hits along with 12 home runs, 56 RBIs and a .246 batting average while Pete Alonso also has 76 hits, 22 home runs and 69 RBIs. Starling Marte has 36 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has 16 doubles as well as 3 triples and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in 5 triples as well this season. Jeff McNeil has 74 hits, 17 doubles, a triple and a .327 batting average as well on the year. Carlos Carrasco will start here and is 8-3 with a 4.42 ERA and 77 strikeouts this season.
Houston is 9-2 in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 25-10 in their last 35 games following a loss while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following an off day. New York is 22-5 in their last 27 games following a loss and 23-9 in their last 32 home games while the over is 5-0-1 in their last 6 interleague games against a right-handed starter.
I get the case to be made for the Mets here, but as good as Carrasco’s been, he’s struggled big time at home this season and that’s not good against a Houston team that can really crank out the runs and light up the scoreboard. Not only that, Luis Garcia’s pitched well on the road and I just think this is a spot where the Astros find a way to get the job done. Give me the Astros.
