The Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays meet Wednesday in MLB action from Tropicana Field. This will be the final installment in a quick two-game set. On Tuesday in the opener, the Brewers put up a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Milwaukee played the Blue Jays over the weekend and managed to win two of three games for a series victory. On Tuesday versus the Rays, the Brewers bagged four runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 5-3 win. Starter Brandon Woodruff put up 5.0 innings with one earned on two hits.

For the starter job in the Wednesday game, the Brewers will send out Eric Lauer. Over his 13 starts this year Lauer is 6-3 with a 3.89 ERA. In 74.0 innings he has 32 earned on 65 hits and 23 walks with 77 Ks.

Over on the Rays’ side, they played the Pirates over the weekend and won three close games for a sweep. On Tuesday, Tampa Bay put up two runs in the eighth but couldn’t catch up. Shane Baz went 5.2 innings in the start with one earned on three hits and two walks.

Tampa is sending out Jalen Beeks for the start Wednesday. In his 19 games (three starts) this season Beeks is 1-1 with a 2.59 ERA.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Tampa Bay in this one. The Rays should be able to find some opportunities against Lauer. He’s had some up-and-down outings lately. Over his last three starts combined, Lauer is 1-2 with 17 earned runs in 17.1 innings of work. In that time he gave up 20 hits and six walks. So long as the Rays can keep the Brewers offense in check I think Tampa will be fine here.
