The Chicago White Sox and the Texas Rangers meet Friday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. This will be the second installment in a four-game weekend set. On Thursday in the opener, the Rangers eked out a close victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago took on the Royals this week, losing Monday 2-1 before wins 9-2 and 4-1 in the other two games. On Thursday in the opener, the Sox had just five team hits in a 3-2 loss. Starter Johnny Cueto went the distance, putting up 8.0 frames with three earned, 11 hits, zero walks and four Ks.

As the starter for the Friday matchup, Chicago will send out Dylan Cease. In his 21 starts so far Cease is 11-4 with a 2.01 ERA. In 116.2 innings total he has 26 earned, 87 hits and 50 walks with 161 Ks.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they had a tough time against the Orioles this week, losing 7-2, 8-2 and 6-3 in a sweep. On Thursday Texas bagged 11 team hits on the way to the win. Cole Ragans managed 5.0 clean innings in the starting role with three hits and four walks.

Glenn Otto will make the start for the Rangers on Friday. Over 15 starts so far Otto is 4-7 with a 5.50 ERA. In 72.0 innings total he has 44 earned, 67 hits, 38 walks and 57 Ks.

The Sox are 23-11 in their last 34 road games versus a right-handed starter and 2-5 in their last seven Friday games. The over is 7-3 in Chicago’s last 10 Friday games.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 17-38 in their last 55 Friday games and 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series. The over is 9-1 in Texas’ last 10 in game two of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the Sox. Cease has been great lately and he should be able to continue his run in this matchup. In his last three starts alone, Cease is 3-0 with just one earned on 12 hits and four walks in 19.0 innings. As for Otto, he’s 0-2 in his last three with 10 earned in 16.1 innings total. I think Otto will at least flirt with a quality start here, but Chicago should have the inside track on a win.
