The Miami Marlins and the Chicago Cubs meet in MLB action from Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Miami Marlins will look to bounce back after a 2-1 loss to the Cubs in Friday’s series opener. Jesus Sanchez has 60 hits along with 3 triples, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .205 batting average. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 13 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 84 hits, a .275 batting average and 22 doubles while Jesus Aguilar also has 88 hits of his own this season. Miguel Rojas also has 28 RBIs and 14 doubles and Avisail Garcia’s got 30 RBIs and 75 hits. Pablo Lopez will start here and is 7-6 with a 3.41 ERA and 119 strikeouts this season.

The Chicago Cubs will look to build on their low-scoring win over the Marlins in their last game. Willson Contreras has 84 hits, 16 home runs and a .253 batting average while Patrick Wisdom also has 20 home runs, 52 RBIs and 22 doubles on the year. Ian Happ also has a team-high 101 hits with 26 doubles of his own and a .274 batting average while Nico Hoerner has a .292 batting average and 93 hits as well on the year. Drew Smyly will start here and is 3-6 with a 4.42 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season.

Miami is 11-5 in their last 16 road games and 1-4 in their last 5 games following a loss while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the NL Central. Chicago is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a win and 12-25 in their last 37 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 8-1-2 in their last 11 home games.

I get the reasoning for backing either side in this one, but I’m still not looking to back the Cubs personally in any scenario. Pablo Lopez has had some issues in recent starts, but the thing is that he’s still the better arm here and the Cubs are also not the type of team to make the Marlins and Lopez specifically pay for any mistakes. This feels like one of those favorable schedule spots for the Marlins so give me Miami here.
