The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet Sunday in MLB action from Citi Field. This will be the finale in a five-game series. After a split in the first two matchups, in the Saturday doubleheader the Mets took both installments. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

After a 6-4 loss Thursday, Atlanta posted eight runs in the first two innings along the way to a 9-6 win on Friday. In the Saturday doubleheader, the Braves fell 8-5 in game one then took a 6-2 loss in game two. Starter Max Fried went 6.0 innings with two earned on six hits and a walk in the nightcap.

Spencer Strider will make the start for Atlanta on Sunday. In his 23 games (12 stars) this year Strider is 6-3 with a 2.79 ERA. In 87.0 innings total he has 27 earned on 54 hits and 32 walks with 133 Ks.

Over on the Mets’ side, they notched 12 hits Friday and made a late comeback bid but couldn’t overcome the deficit. On Saturday New York had 13 team hits in game one and eight in game two. Max Scherzer managed 7.0 clean frames with four hits and 11 strikeouts.

Jacob deGrom will be the Mets’ starter on Sunday. In his lone start this year deGrom went 5.0 innings with one earned on three hits alongside six strikeouts.

The Braves are 41-16 in their last 57 overall and 18-8 in their last 26 road games. The over is 4-1 in Atlanta’s last five in game five of a series.

Meanwhile, the Mets are 39-17 in their last 56 versus the NL East and the under is 3-1-1 in their last five in game five of a series.

PICK: I’m going to try the Braves in this one. I like both starters to do well, however; it should be a fun matchup. Strider has just two earned on six hits and two walks over his last 12.2 innings, going 2-0 in that time. As for deGrom, he looked great in his return to the mound against Washington with just one earned in 5.0 innings on three hits and zero walks. This one could be a lower-scoring affair if both starters are on point, which I think they will be.
