The Texas Rangers and the Miami Marlins meet Monday in MLB doubleheader action from Marlins Park. The Rangers are fresh off a series versus the Blue Jays. After losses in the first two installments, in the Sunday finale the Rangers took a three-run win. As for Miami, they played the Mets in their last outing. The Marlins split the first pair, then in the rubber match Miami lost by six. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas took a tough 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays on Friday, then followed that up with an 11-7 loss Saturday. In the Sunday game the Rangers posted nine hits in a 4-1 win. Starter Martin Perez had a solid outing with 6.0 innings, one earned, six hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.

For the game one start Monday, Texas will send out Glenn Otto. This year Otto is 6-8 with a 4.80 ERA and 87 Ks. As for game two, the Rangers are going with Jon Gray. So far Gray is 7-6 with a 3.83 ERA and 116 strikeouts.

Over on the Miami side, they posted a 6-3 win over the Mets in their Friday opener but fell 11-3 in game two. In the rubber match Sunday, the Marlins gave up 14 hits in a 9-3 defeat. Jesus Luzardo left after 3.1 innings with five earned on six hits and three walks.

Starter for game one Monday will be Miami’s Trevor Rogers. This year Rogers is 4-11 with a 5.51 ERA and 96 Ks. For game two, Miami is sending out Braxton Garrett. He’s 2-6 with a 3.67 ERA and 71 strikeouts.

GAME 1 PICK: I’m leaning Rangers in game one. Otto has been serviceable but not spectacular over his last few starts. He’s got 14.0 combined innings in that time with nine earned on 14 hits and four walks. If Otto can flirt with a quality outing here Texas should be set up pretty well.

GAME 2 PICK: I may take a stab on Miami in game two. Gray has been somewhat shaky over his last two appearances. In that stretch he’s got 7.2 combined innings with nine hits, five walks and seven earned. He’s lost both of those games as well, so the Marlins should have a few opportunities early.
