Milwaukee had some trouble with the Mets this week. losing 7-2 Monday and 7-5 on Tuesday. In the Wednesday finale, the Brewers posted five runs in the seventh inning on the way to a 6-0 victory. Starter Adrian Houser put up 4.2 innings with three hits and no walks.
For the starter job in the Thursday matchup, the Brewers will send out Brandon Woodruff. Over his 24 starts so far Woodruff is 11-4 with a 3.26 ERA. In 135.1 innings total he has 49 earned on 111 hits and 38 walks with 162 Ks.
Over on the Reds’ side, they out-hit the Red Sox 9-7 in the Tuesday game but still lost 5-3. In Wednesday’s matchup, Cincinnati scored three in the fifth on the way to a 5-1 win. Chase Anderson put up 5.0 innings with one earned on three hits alongside four Ks.
Starter for the Reds on Thursday will be Hunter Greene. In 21 starts so far this year Greene is 4-12 with a 4.97 ERA. In 108.2 innings he’s got 60 earned on 96 hits and 41 walks with 138 strikeouts.
PICK: I’m probably sticking with the Brewers. It’s been a pretty solid stretch of games for Woodruff. Over his last three starts he’s 2-0 with 21.0 combined innings. In that time Woodruff has posted just four earned on 12 hits and four walks with a nice 26-strikeout total (21 in the last two games alone). Woodruff shouldn’t have much trouble posting another nice start here, and Milwaukee should be in good shape by the time he exits.
