The San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies meet Friday in MLB action from Coors Field. The Padres are coming off a series versus the Cardinals. San Diego won the first pair in that set, then on Thursday the Padres lost by a run. As for Colorado, they played the Giants this week. The Rockies lost the first three in that series, and in the finale Colorado fell in a shutout. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Diego did pretty well against the Cardinals this week, taking wins 5-0 Tuesday and 1-0 Wednesday. In the Thursday matchup the Padres gave up four runs in the seventh inning in a 5-4 loss. Starter Joe Musgrove put up 5.0 innings with one earned on five hits and two walks.

For the Friday starter role, the Padres will send out Sean Manaea. In his 27 games (26 starts) so far Manaea is 7-9 with a 5.18 EA. In 144.1 innings total he has 83 earned on 146 hits and 46 walks with 146 Ks.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they took losses to the Giants 10-7, 6-3 and 6-1 in the first three game of the set. On Thursday Colorado had 10 hits and zero scoreboard success in a 3-0 defeat. Starting pitcher Jose Urena managed 5.2 innings with two earned on seven hits and a walk.

As starter for the Friday game, the Rockies are sending out Ryan Feltner. Over 17 games (16 starts) so far Feltner is 3-8 with a 6.05 ERA. In 80.1 innings he has 54 earned on 87 hits and 29 walks with 72 Ks.

The Padres are 11-5 in their last 16 road games and 6-2 in their last eight in game one of a series. San Diego is 17-4 in their last 21 Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 1-5 in their last six in game one of a series and the under is 6-2 in their last eight in game one of a series.

PICK: I’m probably going to take a stab on the Padres here. Manaea needs a good outing, though. In his last 6.0 innings, Manaea has done well with just two earned on four hits and no walks. He had a rough start against the Dodgers prior to that however, with 4.1 innings and eight earned in a loss on September 3. Assuming Manaea can bag a quality start I think the Padres will be okay in this one.
