The San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Friday in MLB action from Chase Field. The Giants just finished up against the Rockies. San Francisco won the first three games in that series, then on Thursday the Giants took a shutout win. As for Arizona, they played the Dodgers in their last set. The Diamondbacks split the first four games, and in the Thursday rubber match Arizona lost a close one. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco took out the Rockies 10-7 Monday, 6-3 Tuesday and 6-1 Wednesday. In the Thursday finale the Giants bagged 10 team hits in a 3-0 win. Jharel Cotton put up 2.2 clean innings with two hits and a strikeout.

As starter for the Friday matchup the Giants are sending out Carlos Rodon. In his 29 starts so far Rodon is 13-8 with a 2.84 ERA. Over 167.2 innings total he has 53 earned, 125 hits, 49 walks and 220 Ks.

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they lost 5-2 and 6-5 against the Dodgers this week before taking wins 5-2 and 6-1 in the next pair. On Thursday Arizona gave up a walk-off win 3-2 by surrendering two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Starter Zac Gallen went 8.0 innings with one earned, two hits and 13 strikeouts.

Starter for Arizona will be Tommy Henry. So far Henry is 3-4 with a 5.50 ERA and 25 Ks.

PICK: I’m likely going to try the Giants in this one. Rodon has done well over his last three. He’s got just two earned runs in a combined 16.1 innings on 10 hits and four walks with a nice 29-strikeout total. Rodon is a tepid 1-1 in that trio however, so he’ll need some help from the bats and the pen in order to get another victory here. I think he’ll end up with a W.
