The Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Guardians meet Sunday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series over the weekend. Boston took a three-run win in the Friday opener. On Saturday in game two, the Sox kept it going with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Boston snagged three runs in the seventh inning Friday, powering out a solid 6-3 victory. In the Saturday game two, the Red Sox managed 10 team hits in a 4-2 win. Starter Josh Winckowski finished with 5.1 innings, two earned, six hits and a walk.

For the starting pitcher duties Sunday, the Red Sox are sending out Rich Hill. Across his 13 starts this year Hill is 3-4 with a 4.35 ERA. In 60.0 innings he has 29 earned, 60 hits, 15 walks and 50 strikeouts.

Over on the Guardians’ side, they posted 12 hits Friday (to Boston’s 12) but could only score one run past the fourth inning. On Saturday, Cleveland had a lead for a couple of innings but couldn’t score after the third. Shane Bieber put up 7.0 frames in the start with three earned on six hits and a pair of walks.

Aaron Civale will take the mound for the Guardians on Sunday. Over eight starts this year, Civale is 2-3 with a 7.25 ERA. In 36.0 frames he’s posted 29 earned on 43 hits and 10 walks with 37 strikeouts.

The Red Sox are 5-0 in the last five Sunday games and 5-1 in their last six in game three of a series. Boston is 26-9 in their last 35 overall.
Meanwhile, the Guardians are 17-6 in their last 23 overall and 5-2 in their last seven in game three of a series. The under is 8-2 in Cleveland’s last 10 in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Boston here. We should have a pretty good starter battle on our hands regardless, though. Hill has posted five earned on 13 hits and two walks over his last two starts in 10.2 innings. As for Civale, he’s got just two earned on eight hits and two walks in 11.1 innings in his last pair of outings. I like both guys to pitch well in a close game three, with Boston powering out a win late.
