The New York Mets and the Miami Marlins meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Mets will look to complete the sweep after their 5-3 win over the Marlins for a second straight game last time out. Francisco Lindor has 70 hits along with 12 home runs, 56 RBIs and a .249 batting average while Pete Alonso also has 75 hits, 22 home runs and 68 RBIs. Starling Marte has 36 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has 16 doubles as well as 3 triples and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in 5 triples as well this season. Jeff McNeil has 74 hits, 17 doubles, a triple and a .327 batting average as well on the year. David Peterson will start here and is 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season.

The Miami Marlins will try to get a win to avoid the sweep in Sunday’s matchup. Jesus Sanchez has 46 hits along with 3 triples, 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and a .227 batting average. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has 10 doubles and 4 triples as well as 14 home runs and 45 RBIs as well this season. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 13 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 70 hits, a .311 batting average and 16 doubles while Brian Anderson has 9 doubles of his own and Joey Wendle has 6 doubles and a .284 batting average. Jesus Aguilar also has 61 hits of his own this season. Daniel Castano will start here and is 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA and 8 strikeouts this season.

New York is 4-1 in their last 5 Sunday games and 11-4 in their last 15 game three matchups while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 road games. Miami is 2-6 in their last 8 Sunday games and 1-5 in their last 6 division games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a left-handed starter.

I get the case to be made either way here, but as tempting as plus money with the Marlins at home is, when Miami’s catching plus money at home, it’s usually been for a reason as the Fish have done their best work when favored at home. I don’t love David Peterson, but he’s pitched fairly well and I just don’t know if I’m on board fully with Daniel Castano. I look for the Mets to get the job done on Sunday.
