The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners meet in game three of the ALDS from T-Mobile Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Houston Astros will try to complete the sweep of the Mariners after a 4-2 win over Seattle in game two last time out. Yordan Alvarez led the charge with a two-run home run while Kyle Tucker also had a solo home run and Alex Bregman added an RBI of his own as well to cap off the scoring for Houston in the win. Jeremy Pena went 2 for 3 with a double while Aledmys Diaz added a double of his own to cap off Houston’s offense as the Astros had just six hits as a team in the winning effort. Framber Valdez gave up two runs on four hits with six strikeouts over 5.2 innings of work, but Hector Neris got the win in relief while Ryan Pressly closed the 9th for the save. Lance McCullers Jr. will start here and was 4-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 50 strikeouts in the regular season.

The Seattle Mariners will try to keep their season alive for another day after their loss to the Astros last time out. Carlos Santana and Dylan Moore each had an RBI with Santana adding a double while J.P. Crawford, Mitch Haniger and Julio Rodriguez each had a double as well to round out Seattle’s offense as a team in the loss as the Mariners cranked out just five hits as a team in defeat. Luis Castillo took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings of work. George Kirby will start here and was 8-5 with a 3.39 ERA and 133 strikeouts in the regular season.

Houston is 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 6-1 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Seattle is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games overall.

I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but I’m looking at the under here. These are two teams that know what’s at stake, with Houston trying to move on and Seattle trying to keep their season alive. I think this is a spot where the pitching and defense turns up a notch and for every at bat to mean a little bit more on both sides. McCullers Jr.’s been really good since returning, and George Kirby’s been one of the brighter surprises for Seattle this season. All in all, I’ll side with the under in a first to 3 wins kind of game.
