The Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves meet Wednesday in MLB action from Sun Trust Park. This will be the finale in a quick two-game series. In the Tuesday opener, the Braves powered out a six-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Boston Red Sox
The Sox took on the Phillies over the weekend, winning two of the three games in that series. On Tuesday versus Atlanta, Boston fell behind 5-0 after just two frames. Nick Pivetta put up 4.0 innings in the start with seven earned, eight hits and three walks.
For the starter job Wednesday it’ll be Boston’s Brayan Bello. In four starts so far Bello is 1-1 with a 5.71 ERA and 19 Ks in 17.1 frames. Bello is 3-9 with a 4.94 career ERA in 17 games (15 starts).
Atlanta Braves
Over on the Atlanta side, they played the Orioles over the weekend and won two of three in a close series. On Tuesday the Braves bagged 12 team hits in a 9-3 win. Starter Charlie Morton lasted 6.0 innings with two earned on five hits and two walks.
In the starter slot on Wednesday, the Braves will go with Dylan Lee. This year Lee is 1-0 with a 2.81 ERA in 17 games (zero starts). This will be a bullpen game for Atlanta. Max Fried was originally slated to start here, but he’ll be placed on the IL in another blow to the Braves’ already-strained starter group.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably just stick with the Red Sox. Bello is on a pretty good run over his last couple of starts. In 10.0 combined innings, Bello has put up three earned on 11 hits and three walks. He’s 1-0 in that pair. On Tuesday Boston didn’t have too terrible of an offensive evening, but they couldn’t dig out of the early hole. If Bello can notch a quality outing in game two however, I think the Red Sox will be in line for a victory.
