Arizona’s Corbin Carroll, Lourdes Gurriel and Christian Walker each had a homer in that loss. On Monday the Diamondbacks were up 4-0 by the fifth inning and cruised to the win. Jace Peterson bagged two RBI in the victory.
Brandon Pfaadt will be the starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks in game two on Tuesday. This year in 14 starts Pfaadt is 1-7 with a 6.21 ERA and 64 Ks in 71.0 innings. Pfaadt is 1-3 with a 4.12 ERA in his last seven starts.

I’ll probably try the Diamondbacks here. The line’s too thick to mess with though, and Pfaadt needs a bounce-back start as well. He’s coming off five earned in 4.0 innings during a loss to the Dodgers. In his two prior starts however, Pfaadt had just two earned in 12.1 innings total. I like him to at least flirt with a quality start here. On Monday Arizona had one big inning offensively and rode the wave to a victory. The Diamondbacks got a nice start from Merrill Kelly (7.0 innings; 12 Ks; one earned), so if Pfaadt can get five good frames or so Arizona should be set up well.
