Arizona Diamondbacks vs New York Yankees Prediction 4-1-24 Picks

The New York Yankees and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Monday in MLB action from Chase Field. Here’s a Yankees vs Diamondbacks prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game. We will examine:

New York Yankees Betting Preview

The Yankees took on the rival Astros over the weekend and had some legitimate success. New York won the first three games 5-4, 7-1 and 5-3. In the Sunday finale the Yankees eked out a 4-3 victory to complete the improbable sweep. Juan Soto walked away with three hits and one RBI, while starter Clarke Schmidt had three earned in 5.1 innings.

As starting pitcher for Monday’s game, the Yankees wil send out Luis Gil. Back in 2022 during his most recent MLB season, Gil pitched just once before eventual Tommy John surgery. That effort resulted in 4.0 innings and four earned runs. Gil earned the starter job after a great Spring Training, though.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they beat the Rockies in their first two games by a combined 23-4 score, then fell Saturday 9-4. On Sunday Arizona bagged another sizable win 5-1 thanks to three runs in the first inning. The Diamondbacks’ Lourdes Gurriel and Christian Walker combined for four RBI and a homer on three hits.

In the starting pitcher slot for the Diamondbacks on Monday it’ll be Ryne Nelson. Last season Nelson went 8-8 with a 5.31 ERA in 29 games (27 starts). Nelson posted 96 Ks in 144.0 innings in 2023. He’s a career 9-9 pitcher with a 4.88 ERA in 32 games (30 starts).

Yankees vs Diamondbacks Prediction

I’ll stick with the Diamondbacks. You could make a great case either way, though. Arizona played very well over the weekend on both sides. The Diamondbacks posted a combined 32 runs over four games while also holding Colorado to three runs or fewer in three of those. Nelson should be able to hold things together while he’s in there on Monday. If the offense keeps rolling Arizona will be in a nice spot.

As for the Yankees, it’ll be interesting to see what Gil can do after a stellar spring. If he stays hot (or at least warm) the pen should be able to handle the rest. New York’s offense has been quite hot as well, scoring a combined 21 runs over four games.
