The Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Sunday in MLB action from Chase Field. Here’s an Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies prediction. Philadelphia Phillies Betting Preview

The Phillies played the Los Angeles Dodgers in their last series. After a loss 5-3 in the opener Philadelphia took wins 6-2 and 9-4 to get a series victory. After a 6-4 win Thursday and a 3-2 loss to the Diamondbacks Friday, in game two Philly took a blowout loss 11-1. Starter Aaron Nola finished with 5.0 innings and three earned runs.

Starter for Philadelphia on Sunday will be Christopher Sanchez. This year Sanchez is 8-7 with a 3.27 ERA in 22 starts. Sanchez is 14-14 with a 3.75 ERA in 63 games (44 starts) over his career.

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they played the Cleveland Guardians in their last set. Arizona did well in that one, bagging a sweep 7-6, 7-3 and 5-3. In game three versus the Phillies, the Diamondbacks posted a dominant 15-5 hitting advantage. Arizona scored seven runs in the seventh inning alone.

In the starter role for Arizona on Saturday, it’ll be Merrill Kelly. So far Kelly is 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA in four starts.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

I’ll stay with the Phillies. That said, Sanchez needs to notch a quality start here. He did fine in a victory over the Dodgers on August 6, with one earned in 6.0 innings. In his 11.2 innings prior to that however, Sanchez went 0-2 with nine earned in 11.2 innings. As for Kelly, it’ll be interesting to see what he can do.

On Saturday the Phillies were pretty well overmatched on both sides. Philadelphia only got hits from four different players and there were a couple of rough performances on the mound. All things considered though, I think the Phillies have a good shot at a W Sunday.
