Arizona Diamondbacks vs Texas Rangers Prediction 8-22-23 MLB Picks

The Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Tuesday in MLB action from Chase Field. This will be the second installment in a quick two-game set. In the Monday opener, the Diamondbacks eked out a comeback extra-innings win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers took on the Brewers over the weekend and things didn’t go well in a three-game sweep. In Sunday’s 6-2 loss, Texas got a solo homer from Corey Seager (two hits). On Monday the Rangers had a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 11th inning but ended up falling 4-3. Nathaniel Lowe had two RBI in the final frame and Adolis Garcia had a solo home run.

Jon Gray will take the mound on Tuesday for the Rangers. Across his 22 starts this year Gray is 8-6 with a 3.52 ERA and 106 Ks in 127.2 innings. Gray is 2-2 with a 4.20 ERA over his last seven starts.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they took on the Padres in their last series and did well with three wins in four games. Gabriel Moreno went off for five RBI and a homer in Sunday’s 8-1 victory. On Monday Arizona got the walk-off win courtesy of Tommy Pham’s two RBI. Ketel Marte added a solo homer and two runs, while Geraldo Perdomo contributed an RBI and a run.

It’ll be Zac Gallen in the starter slot for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Over his 26 starts so far Gallen is 13-5 with a 3.17 ERA and 168 Ks in 162.0 innings. Gallen is 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA in his last seven starts total.

I’ll stick with the Diamondbacks here. I like Gallen to post a solid start, as he’s been pitching pretty well. In his last trio Gallen is 2-0 with 19.1 innings, three earned runs, 11 hits and four walks. As for Gray, he’s got just one earned run over his last 14.0 innings. This one should be a fairly low-scoring total, at least while the starters are in there. On Monday Arizona had an excellent comeback win, but there are still some gripes about the offense. The Diamondbacks didn’t really do much at the plate until they had to; it was a very quiet evening until the ninth. Still, Arizona is on a tear right now with six wins in their last seven games. I think Arizona will make it another W in game two.
