Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Houston Astros are 0-1 this season after they lost game one to the Angels by a score of 3-0 on Thursday. Houston battled for most of the game, but they allowed three late runs for the low scoring loss. The Astros recorded just three hits and they were led by Loperfido, who went 2-4 in the game. Brown allowed four hits and zero earned runs over 4.2 innings in the no decision, while Blubaugh allowed two hits and one earned run in relief for the loss.

Last season, Houston had a 3.86 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and a .232 opponent batting average, while they scored 686 runs with a .250 batting average and a .315 on base percentage. Christian Walker led the team with 27 home runs and 88 RBIs, while Jose Altuve added 26 home runs and 77 RBIs. The projected starting pitcher for Houston is Mike Burrows, who went 2-4 with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 96.0 innings pitched last season.

Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Angels are 1-0 this year after they defeated Houston by a score of 3-0 on Thursday. Los Angeles scored one run in the seventh, one in the eighth, and one in the ninth in the shutout victory. The Angels recorded nine hits in the game and they were led by Peraza, Trout, and Schanuel, who all had one RBI. Soriano allowed two hits and zero earned runs over 6.0 innings for the win, while Romano picked up the save with a scoreless ninth.

Astros vs Angels Prediction

Los Angeles opened their season with a very nice shutout win on Thursday afternoon and they will look for two wins to start the year here. The Angels will start Kikuchi on the mound, who can be a solid option, but you never know what you will get with him. Houston needs more offense and they will start Burrows on the mound. Burrows is an interesting arm that only pitched 96 innings last year, but he has plenty of hype coming into this season. I was not impressed with either lineup on Thursday and I think this pitching matchup could be decent, so I will back the under here.
