The Cincinnati Reds and the Oakland Athletics meet Saturday in MLB action from O.co Coliseum. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, Cincinnati posted a high-scoring victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds took on the Rangers this week, winning all three games 7-6, 7-6 and 5-3. In the Friday opener versus the A’s, Cincinnati notched 16 team hits in a very active 11-7 victory. Luis Cessa put up 5.0 innings in the start with three earned on eight hits and a walk.

As starter for the Saturday matchup the Reds will send out Hunter Greene. In his five starts this year Greene is 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA and 30 strikeouts over 23.0 frames. Greene has a career record of 5-14 with a 4.30 ERA in 29 starts.

Oakland Athletics

Over on the A’s side, they played the Angels in their last series and lost three of the four games. On Friday versus Cincinnati, Oakland gave up five runs in the first three innings and never caught back up. Starting pitcher Drew Rucinski finished with 5.2 innings, 11 hits, three earned, one walk and a strikeout.

Kyle Muller will take the mound for the A’s on Saturday. Across five starts this season Muller is 0-2 with a 7.23 ERA and 17 Ks in 23.2 innings. Muller is 3-7 in his career with a 5.82 ERA in 17 games (16 starts).

The Reds are 16-35 in their last 51 overall and 16-37 in their last 53 road games. Cincinnati is 19-46 in their last 65 in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the A’s are 27-59 in their last 86 at home and 16-39 in their last 55 on grass. Oakland is 19-39 in their last 58 versus a team with a losing record.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with the Reds. Greene has gotten better over his last few outings; he’s got four earned in 15.0 combined innings on 14 hits and two walks in that trio. Cincinnati should also have some solid offensive opportunities in this one. On Friday the Reds had a great offensive evening, posting multiple runs in four different innings. Cincinnati also gave up quite a bit on the other side amid all the excitement though, especially in the later frames. That said, the Reds should still be in prime position for game two.

Andrew's Free Pick: Cincinnati Reds -155
