The Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds meet in MLB action from the Great American Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to the Reds last time out. Guillermo Heredia went 2 for 4 with an RBI while William Contreras went 2 for 4 with a double and Ronald Acuna Jr. added a double as well. Austin Riley, Dansby Swanson and Ender Inciarte each had a base hit to finish off the offense for the Braves in the loss. Ian Anderson took the loss, falling to 5-4 on the year after allowing three runs on five hits while striking out nine over six innings of work. Kyle Muller will start here and is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season. This will be Muller’s first career start against Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Reds will look to build on their win and finish the series strong after their win on Saturday. Jesse Winker and Tyler Stephenson each had a solo home run while Nick Castellanos had a double and an RBI and Joey Votto added an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for Cincy in the win. Tucker Barnhart and Jonathan India each had a base hit as well as the Braves had just six hits as a team in the victory. Luis Castillo got the win to improve to 3-10 on the year after throwing seven shutout innings, giving up six hits while striking out six in the win. Amir Garrett closed the 9th for his 5th save of the season. Tyler Mahle will start this one and is 7-2 with a 3.56 ERA and 98 strikeouts this season. In his career, Mahle is 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA and 16 strikeouts against Atlanta.
Atlanta is 7-2 in their last 9 games against the NL Central and 53-26 in their last 79 Sunday games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Cincinnati is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 2-6 in their last 8 games overall and over is 13-5 in their last 18 home games against a team with a losing record. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
There is no line for this game as of yet, please check back once a line has been released for your I would normally lean Cincinnati’s way here as Mahle has pitched very well here and the Reds usually perform well at home offensively. However, Mahle’s ERA at home this season is five runs higher than his road ERA this season and opposing teams haven’t held runs back at the GAB this season. I’ll take a stab with Atlanta in this one.
