The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Truist Park on Saturday.
The Miami Marlins will be out to rebound from an 8-1 loss to the Braves in Friday’s matchup. Entering Friday, Jesus Sanchez has 61 hits along with 3 triples, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .205 batting average. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 13 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 88 hits, a .255 batting average and 24 doubles while Jesus Aguilar also has 98 hits of his own this season. Miguel Rojas also has 31 RBIs and 15 doubles and Avisail Garcia’s got 30 RBIs and 75 hits. Edward Cabrera will start here and is 4-2 with a 2.45 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season.
The Atlanta Braves will try to keep the ball rolling after their win over the Marlins from Friday’s game. Going into Friday’s game, Matt Olson has 127 hits with a .249 batting average and a team-high 41 doubles while Marcell Ozuna has 89 hits with 14 doubles, 20 home runs and 46 RBIs. Austin Riley has 147 hits with 36 doubles, 33 home runs and 86 RBIs and Dansby Swanson also has 78 RBIs of his own as well as a .286 batting average and 148 hits this season. Jake Odorizzi will start here and is 5-5 with a 3.90 ERA and 69 strikeouts this season.
Miami is 16-35 in their last 51 games overall and 3-14 in their last 17 division games while the under is 6-0-1 in their last 7 Saturday games. Atlanta is 7-1 in their last 8 division games and 58-24 in their last 82 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 home games against a team with a losing record.
I get the case that you could make for both teams here, but I think the better play is the under. Despite his recent dustup, I’d argue that Edwards Cabrera’s been the better starter as of late, and even if that proves to be the case here, the problem for Miami is that run support for their starters continues to be an issue. I also don’t expect the Braves to do a ton here and unlike Friday’s game, I’m expecting a first to three wins game to come through here. Give me the under.
