In their weekend set the Phillies took on the Washington Nationals. Philadelphia won the first three of those matchups before a 6-4 loss Sunday. In the opener versus the Braves on Tuesday, the Phillies took a 3-1 loss. Starter Zack Wheeler finished with 6.0 innings and two earned.

As starter for game two the Phillies will go with Aaron Nola. In 25 starts this year Nola is 11-6 with a 3.45 ERA. In 260 career starts Nola is 101-77 with a 3.69 ERA.

Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

I’ll stay with the Phillies. Both starters could use a good outing, though. Nola put up 6.2 clean frames versus the Nationals in his last start. In two starts prior however, Nola was 0-2 with seven earned in 11.0 innings. As for Fried, he’s 0-2 with 12 earned runs in 13.2 innings over his last three starts.

On Tuesday the Phillies had a pretty slow offensive day outside of Alec Bohm’s 2-for-4 outing (and a run). Overall the pitching wasn’t horrendous, but Jose Alvarado (0.2 innings; one earned; four walks) didn’t have his best day. Philly needs a solid bounce-back Wednesday.
