The Cleveland Guardians and the Baltimore Orioles meet Wednesday in MLB action from Oriole Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians scored four runs in the seventh inning during Monday’s opener of this set, eventually posting a 5-0 victory. On Tuesday Cleveland coughed up seven runs in the first two innings on the way to an 8-5 loss. Cal Quantrill went 4.1 frames in the start with eight earned, eight hits and two walks.

In the starter role Wednesday the Guardians will go with Shane Bieber. Over his 11 starts this year Bieber is 4-3 with a 3.04 ERA and 49 Ks in 71.0 innings. Bieber is 58-29 with a 3.16 ERA in 124 career games (122 starts).

Baltimore Orioles

Over on the Orioles’ side, they couldn’t get anything going on five team hits in the Monday opener. In game two Baltimore bagged 11 hits (and gave up 11 as well) in the win. Kyle Gibson lasted 5.2 innings with three earned on seven hits and one walk.

As the starter for Wednesday’s finale, the Orioles didn’t immediately announce a name.

I’ll probably take a stab on Cleveland here. Bieber has pitched well over his last two starts, posting four combined earned runs on 12 hits and six walks in 14.2 innings. He’s just 1-1 in that time however, so Bieber will need some help from the bats. On Tuesday the Guardians had a bad first couple of innings but cleaned it up after the fourth. The bullpen combined for 3.2 clean frames, three hits, one walk and four strikeouts. I think the Guardians will bounce back and win the series if the starter pitching is better in game three.
