Blue Jays vs Yankees Pick – MLB Predictions & Odds 5/15/23

The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Monday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. New York is coming off a four-game series versus the Rays. The Yankees won two of the first three installments, then on Sunday New York fell by one run. As for Toronto, they played the Braves over the weekend, winning the first pair. In the finale the Jays took the sweep with a close victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York Yankees

The Yankees lost to the Rays 8-2 in the Thursday opener but came back to win Friday 6-5 and Saturday 9-8. In the Sunday finale New York blew a lead by giving up five runs in the fifth and ended up losing 8-7. Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt put up 4.2 innings, seven earned, six hits and three walks.

Jimmy Cordero will make the Monday start for the Yankees. This year Cordero is 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA in 15 games (zero starts). Over his career, Cordero is 6-6 with a 4.27 ERA in 98 games (zero starts).

Toronto Blue Jays

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they beat the Braves 3-0 in Friday’s game and 5-2 in the Saturday game two. On Sunday Toronto posted 13 hits in a walk-off win 6-5. Starter Yusei Kikuchi put up 4.0 innings with four earned on nine hits with seven Ks.

Alek Manoah will make the start for the Blue Jays on Monday. Over his eight starts so far Manoah is 1-3 with a 4.83 ERA and 32 Ks in 41.0 innings. He’s 26-12 with a 2.86 career ERA in 59 starts.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll likely stick with the Blue Jays in this one. Manoah is just 0-2 over his last three starts, but he hasn’t pitched too badly. He’s got seven combined earned runs over 14.2 innings on 18 hits and nine walks. I like Manoah to put up a quality start in this one and keep New York in check while he’s out there. On Sunday Toronto came back from a 5-4 deficit with a big ninth inning and took the walk-off win. I like the Jays to carry that momentum into this opener.
