Boston Red Sox vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction 4-18-24 Picks

The Cleveland Guardians and the Boston Red Sox meet Thursday in MLB action from Fenway Park. Here’s a Giants vs Marlins prediction. This will be the finale in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Guardians lost two of three to the New York Yankees of the weekend, but bounced back with victories over Boston in the first two games of this set. On Wednesday, Cleveland posted a 2-0 loss with just five team hits. Starting pitcher Ben Lively put up 5.0 innings with two earned on three hits and one walk.

In the Thursday finale, the Guardians will send out Carlos Carrasco as the starting pitcher. This year in three starts Carrasco is 0-1 with a 3.55 ERA and 11 Ks in 12.2 innings. Carrasco has a career record of 107-94 with a 4.04 ERA in 306 games (259 starts).

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they won two of three over the Los Angeles Angels in their weekend series before the two losses to the Guardians on Monday and Tuesday. In game three, Boston got a complete-game shutout from Tanner Houck. He finished with three hits, no walks and nine strikeouts. Connor Wong added a solo homer.

Brennan Bernardino will take the mound for the Red Sox on Thursday as starter. This year Bernadino is 0-1 with a 1.69 ERA and eight Ks.

The Red Sox will meet the Pirates, Guardians, and Cubs after this series.

Guardians vs Red Sox Prediction

I’ll probably stay with the Guardians. Carrasco hasn’t done too badly over his first three starts this year. That said, he hasn’t gone past 4.2 innings in consecutive games and is also searching for his first win. Carrasco has given up two earned in his last 7.2 combined frames on six hits and eight walks.

On Wednesday the Guardians couldn’t figure out Houck in a great pitching performance. Cleveland is going to have to recover offensively—plus see a solid outing from Carrasco—but I think they’ve got a shot in the finale.
