Chicago Cubs vs NY Mets Prediction 6-21-24 Picks

The New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs meet Friday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. Here’s a Chicago Cubs vs NY Mets Prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The Mets are fresh off three games versus the Texas Rangers. New York took the first installment of that set 14-2 and won Tuesday 7-6. Wednesday’s matchup was a 5-3 loss however, as the Mets failed to complete the sweep. Starter Sean Manaea finished with 5.2 innings, three earned and six Ks in the loss.

For Friday’s game the Mets will send out Jose Quintana as starter. Quintana is 2-5 with a 4.98 ERA in 14 starts this year. In his career Quintana is 94-98 with a 3.79 ERA in 342 total games (316 starts).

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

Over on the Cubs’ side, they played the San Francisco Giants in their last series. Chicago lost Monday’s opener but then followed up with wins 5-2 and 6-5 in the remaining pair. In the finale, Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks came away with 5.2 innings, one earned run, two hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.

It’ll be Shota Imanaga in the start for the Cubs on Friday. This year Imanaga is 7-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 78 Ks in 76.0 innings over his first 13 career starts. The Cubs will meet the Giants and Brewers after this series.

Chicago Cubs vs NY Mets Prediction

I’ll stay with the Cubs. Imanaga should do pretty well here. He’s 2-0 in his last three starts combined, giving up four earned in 18.0 total frames. Imanaga has 16 hits and just one walk in that time. As for Quintana, he’s coming off a nice outing in a win over the Padres, going 6.0 innings with one earned on two hits and two walks.

The Cubs have been scoring quite well lately. They’ve hit five or more runs in four of their last five games. Chicago has given up five or more runs in two of the last three however, so the Mets should have some opportunities late if the pen can’t get it together.
