Chicago White Sox vs Boston Red Sox MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 9/12/2021

The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox meet Sunday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game weekend series. The White Sox eked out a win Friday in the opener, then on Saturday Boston evened it up with an extra-innings victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Boston fell behind 4-0 after four innings in the Friday opener and couldn’t come back, ultimately falling 4-3. In the Saturday game two, the Red Sox blew a big lead but came back to take the game in 10 innings 9-8. Connor Seabold lasted 3.0 innings with two earned on three hits and two walks.

For the starter job in the Sunday finale, Boston will roll out Nick Pivetta. This year Pivetta is 9-7 with a 4.67 ERA and 151 Ks to his credit.

Over on the Chicago side, they were out-hit in the Friday game 8-6 but still came away with the victory. In Saturday’s matchup, the White Sox gave up seven runs in the third inning and two unanswered runs in the final three frames. Dylan Cease put up 2.2 frames with seven earned on four hits and five walks.

Starting pitcher for Chicago on Sunday will be Lance Lynn. This year over his 135.2 innings Lynn has 104 hits, 43 runs (39 earned), 16 homers allowed, 42 walks, 152 Ks and a 2.59 ERA.

The Red Sox are 6-15 in their last 21 road games and 4-12 in their last 16 road games versus a team with a winning record. The under is 13-4-2 in Boston’s last 19 in game three of a series and 8-2 in their last 10 road games.

Meanwhile, the White Sox are 63-28 in their last 91 home games and 15-7 in their last 22 Sunday games. Chicago is 1-4 in their last five in game three of a series and the under is 10-3 in their last 13 in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to try Chicago in this Laundry Series finale. That said, Lynn is going to need a bounce-back start. He’s coming off seven earned on seven hits, two walks and three homers in 5.0 innings during his last game versus the Cubs. Prior to that however, Lynn had a good run going with two earned on eight hits in 11.0 innings. If the White Sox can get a quality start out of Lynn I think they’ll be in good shape.
