This will be the final installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

In their early-week series the Red Sox took on the rival Toronto Blue Jays. Boston did well in that series, taking a sweep with wins 7-3, 4-3 and 7-3 again. In the Friday opener versus the Reds, Boston fell 5-2. In game two the Sox eked out a 4-3 win. Nick Pivetta managed 4.1 innings in the start with three earned on six hits and a walk.

Zack Kelly will take the mound for the Sox in Sunday’s start. Kelly is 2-1 with a 1.75 ERA in 19 games (one start) this year. He’s got 27 Ks in 25.2 innings.

Over on the Reds’ side, they played the Pittsburgh Pirates in their last set. Cincinnati lost 4-1 Monday then came back for a 2-1 victory in game two. In the finale the Reds took a tough 1-0 loss to drop the series. On Saturday Cincinnati was up 3-0 after three innings but still fell. Starter Frankie Montas put up 6.0 frames with two earned on five hits and a walk.

It’ll be Nick Lodolo in the starter role for the Reds on Sunday. This year Lodolo is 8-2 with a 2.76 ERA and 70 Ks in 65.1 innings over his 11 starts. Lodolo is 14-10 with a 3.81 ERA in 37 career starts.

Cincinnati Reds vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Reds. Lodolo is pitching well right now. In his last three starts he’s got just four earned in 19.0 combined innings on 15 hits and five walks. Lodolo is 3-0 in that trio as well. If he can keep it going Cincinnati will be set up very well in the finale.

On Saturday the Reds got themselves into a great position early but couldn’t score after the third inning. A few hitters had good days though, including Elly De La Cruz (three hits; homer) and Spencer steer (two RBI; homer). Cincinnati should stand a good chance here if the hitting evens out.
