New York Yankees Team Preview

The New York Yankees come into this one looking to bounce back after failing to sweep the Marlins thanks to a 5-2 loss in Wednesday’s series finale. Juan Soto leads the Yankees with 18 hits and 12 RBIs with a pair of home runs and 3 RBIs. Giancarlo Stanton has a team-high 4 home runs but also has the dubious distinction of leading the Yankees with 16 strikeouts this season. Anthony Volpe has a .372 batting average with 3 stolen bases as well this season. Aaron Judge also has a pair of home runs with a .178 batting average. Clarke Schmidt will get the start for the Yankees here and is 0-0 with a 4.66 ERA and 9 strikeouts this season.

Yankees vs. Guardians Prediction

I’m on the Guardians here. I get why the Yankees are favored with the best record in baseball right now, but the Guardians have been playing well in their own right and aren’t a team I’m interested in stepping in front of. They play sound baseball in the fundamental department and Clarke Schmidt is more than hittable. The Yankees have a potent lineup, but even the ’27 Yankees had some bad days at the dish and I didn’t like what I saw from New York in the finale of the Marlins series. Give me the Guardians here.
