Cleveland Guardians vs Oakland Athletics Prediction 4-21-24 Picks

The Oakland Athletics and the Cleveland Guardians meet Sunday in MLB action from Progressive Field. Here’s an A’s vs Guardians prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-game weekend series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

The A’s took on the St. Louis Cardinals in their last set, staving off the sweep with a 6-3 win Wednesday. After a 10-2 loss to Cleveland in game one, on Saturday the A’s posted a 6-3 loss despite a brief 2-2 tie in the fifth. Oakland’s Alex Wood posted 5.0 innings with four earned on eight hits and a walk in the start.

It’ll be Ross Stripling taking the starting pitcher role for the Athletics on Sunday. Across his four starts this year Stripling is 0-4 with a 5.32 ERA and 18 Ks in 23.2 innings. Stripling has a career mark of 38-47 with a 4.00 ERA in 230 games (119 starts).

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Over on the Guardians’ side, they played well against the Boston Red Sox this week with three wins in four games. After the Friday win, in game two Cleveland bagged 14 team hits on the way to another victory. Starter Logan Allen finished with 5.1 innings, three earned, five hits and three walks.

Taking the mound for the start on Sunday will be Cleveland’s Tanner Bibee. This year over his four starts Bibee is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 18.2 innings. Bibee is 11-4 with a 3.19 ERA in 29 career games.

A’s vs Guardians Prediction

I’m staying with Cleveland. The Guardians should be okay with Bibee on the mound here. Back on April 10 versus the White Sox, Bibee posted five earned in 4.1 innings during a no-decision but he was able to bounce back in his last outing. Bibee put up 5.0 frames with one earned on five hits and two walks in that one.

On Saturday in game two, the Guardians got hits from nearly everyone in the lineup (all except for Brayan Rocchio at 0-for-4, that is). The bullpen came through with zero earned on one hit and four walks in 3-2 frames in a nice effort. I like Cleveland to keep it up in the finale for a sweep.
