Cleveland Guardians vs San Diego Padres Prediction 7-19-24 Picks

The San Diego Padres and the Cleveland Guardians meet Friday in MLB action from Progressive Field. Here’s a Cleveland Guardians vs San Diego Padres prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

San Diego Padres Betting Preview

This past weekend, the Padres took on the Atlanta Braves. San Diego was able to notch a shutout win in the Saturday installment of that set 4-0. The other two games were both losses however, as the Padres fell 6-1 Friday and 6-3 in the finale.

For the starting pitcher duties Friday the Padres will send out Matt Waldron. This year Waldron is 5-8 with a 3.71 ERA in 19 starts. Over his career Waldron is 6-11 with a 3.89 ERA in 27 games (25 starts).

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Over on the Guardians’ side, they played the Tampa Bay Rays in their weekend series. Cleveland’s set went similarly to the Padres. The Guardians took a 4-2 win in game two but otherwise lost 2-0 in both the Friday and Sunday matchups.

As starter for Friday the Guardians are going with Tanner Bibee. So far Bibee is 7-4 with a 3.77 ERA in 19 starts. Over 44 career starts Bibee is 17-8 with a 3.32 ERA.

Cleveland Guardians vs San Diego Padres Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Guardians I suppose. Probably not touching this one, though. Both starters could use a good bounce-back effort. Bibee has gone 0-2 in his last pair of starts with eight earned in 11.2 innings. He had a win over KC with two earned in 6.0 frames before that, though. As for Waldron, he’s given up 10 earned runs over his last 17.1 innings total.

Cleveland has scored one run or fewer in three of their last four games, so the bats need to wake up for this one. I’m staying away, but it seems like a coin-flip proposition if all goes well.
