Cleveland Guardians vs San Diego Padres Prediction 7-21-24 Picks

The San Diego Padres and the Cleveland Guardians meet Sunday in MLB action from Progressive Field. Here’s a Cleveland Guardians vs San Diego Padres prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

San Diego Padres Betting Preview

In their last series before the break the Padres took on the Atlanta Braves. San Diego won 4-0 in the Saturday game but dropped the other pair 6-1 and 6-3. After a 7-0 blowout loss to the Guardians on Friday, in game two the Padres cruised to a blowout win 7-0.

In the starter slot for the Padres on Sunday it’ll be Michael King. This year King is 7-6 with a 3.41 ERA in 20 games (19 starts). King is 20-23 with a 3.39 ERA in 135 games (38 starts) over his career.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Over on the Guardians’ side, they played the Tampa Bay Rays in their last set. Cleveland similarly took a 4-2 win on Saturday but otherwise lost 2-0 in the other pair to drop the series. On Saturday the Guardians had just one hit and allowed 11 on the other side.

It’ll be Ben Lively in the starter slot for the Guardians on Sunday. This year Lively is 8-5 with a 3.58 ERA in 16 starts. Over 61 career games (48 starts) Lively is 16-22 with a 4.61 ERA total.

Cleveland Guardians vs San Diego Padres Prediction

I’ll stay with the Padres. King is pitching well these days. In his last three starts combined, King is 2-1 with just three earned runs over 17.1 innings of work. As for Lively, he’s coming off a loss to the Rays with two earned in 5.1 innings.

On Saturday the Padres got a great start from Dylan Cease with just the one hit, one walk and 10 strikeouts. San Diego also had a great night at the plate. We probably won’t see an exact repeat Sunday, but I like the Padres to close strong on both sides.
